The original stone house was built in 1780 with an addition put on in the 1850’s.  

We are told that one portion of the home was the stable (where the Dining Room with French Doors is now located) and above that in the loft bedroom is where the stable boy lived.   

 

In the early 1900’s it was a Turkey Farm with neighboring land.  To the locals it is still known as the Affron Turkey Farm.  There are original wide plank wood floors throughout the home, along with fireplaces and cabinetry of that era.

 

It went from being a Turkey Farm, to a Christian School to a hippie pad where 20 people lived.  Throughout the years, it had not been taken care of – floors badly warped and pipes kept together with duct tape.

 

In the summer of 2022 we were smitten with this 240 year old stone home and jumped in to buy it!  What were we thinking??!!  Have you heard of the Money Pit?  This was the question we were asked constantly during the year of renovation.

 

My dear friend Harleen McLean (www.harleenmclean.com), a designer from London moved here for 3 months to work on creating magic in the house.  We lived there while construction was happening.  Usually someone moves out when construction happens – we moved in!!

 

She created all the murals, kitchen backsplash, tile work – along with every furniture and design decision was hers.  She brought the house back to life and brought charm to the house.
